LED MR16 lamps are designed to replace conventional halogen MR16 lamps and are often compatible with the existing transformer. They have a 50mm diameter, GU5.3 base and operate using 12 Volts. Advantages of choosing an LED MR16 include:

• 25,000 to 40,000 hour lifetime (compared to 2,000 hours for Halogen options)
• Up to 90% more energy efficient
• Lower operating temperature
• Range of colour temperatures

Choose a warm white colour temperature to replicate the glow of an incandescent bulb, or a cool white or daylight temperature for areas where higher focus is needed, such as kitchens, studies and offices. While there are dimmable options, potential problems, such as flickering, may arise if using existing components designed for incandescent lighting. Dimmable LED MR16’s require a dimmable LED driver and a compatible dimmer switch.
